I Bought Another Motorcycle!

Posted in American Biker, Arizona, Biker, Harley-Davidson, Harley-Davidson Dealers, Motorcycle, Motorcycle Rides, Motorcycles, U.S.A., Washington on December 7, 2018 by DRF

I’ve been looking for a 2nd motorcycle now for a few months.

I want a second (backup) motorcycle so when my brother, my son or best friend comes to visit (without their motorcycles) we can take a ride together. This way they won’t need to rent one at about $120 per day.  Crazy prices huh?  Or is it Just an excuse for another motorcycle?

I wasn’t in a hurry since I already had a bike.

I had three requirements.

– First it needs to be a Harley-Davidson. I’ve had Harley’s for so long now, I don’t want to change. It’s what I like!

– Second, It must be a 2007 or newer. That’s the year Harley changed from 5 speed to 6. It’s easier on the motor and makes a noticeable difference on long rides at highway speeds.

– Third, my price limit is $7,000. I don’t want to spend too much on a second motorcycle.

After searching off and on for a few months, I found one 1,500 miles away, in Washington, the same town as my brother. How nice is that? Not very convenient for me since it’s so far away, but at least I have a place to keep it until I can get out there and ride it home. And the price had just been reduced to $6,999. I don’t think their selling many bikes right now due to the weather, and the new models are arriving.

So I bought it over the phone! I had enough air miles saved up for a round trip ticket, so I flew out to take care of the paperwork last weekend.

My new, used 2007 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic.

Now I just need to find time to go back and get it. Winter is settling in and with the possibility of ice on the roads in the northwest USA, it may not be the best time of year to ride it back to Arizona.

So I’ll try and be patient and wait!

I’ll need to back here on a weekend when there will be more motorcycles and old classic cars on the road.  Not many people here on a Friday afternoon in October. It was still nice to take a ride through here though.

Here’s a new CHALLENGE COIN I designed and has just been minted.

I’ve been searching for a motorcycle related challenge coin.  The only ones I could find had a specific company logo (H-D) on them.  Those are nice, but what if everyone doesn’t ride that brand of motorcycle?  So I decided to create my own design.  After several drafts and revisions, this is coin #1 with more to come.

The photo above shows both sides of the coin.  Made of brass with an antique brass finish.  Measures 1.75″ (44mm) across.

I’ve listed them on eBay if anyone is interested.

This would make a nice unique gift for the motorcycle enthusiast on someone who collects motorcycle memorabilia.

Start the “Challenge Coin” tradition with your biker friends.
