I Bought Another Motorcycle!

Posted in American Biker, Arizona, Biker, Harley-Davidson, Harley-Davidson Dealers, Motorcycle, Motorcycle Rides, Motorcycles, U.S.A., Washington on December 7, 2018 by DRF

I’ve been looking for a 2nd motorcycle now for a few months.

I want a second (backup) motorcycle so when my brother, my son or best friend comes to visit (without their motorcycles) we can take a ride together. This way they won’t need to rent one at about $120 per day.  Crazy prices huh?  Or is it Just an excuse for another motorcycle?

I wasn’t in a hurry since I already had a bike.

I had three requirements.

– First it needs to be a Harley-Davidson. I’ve had Harley’s for so long now, I don’t want to change. It’s what I like!

– Second, It must be a 2007 or newer. That’s the year Harley changed from 5 speed to 6. It’s easier on the motor and makes a noticeable difference on long rides at highway speeds.

– Third, my price limit is $7,000. I don’t want to spend too much on a second motorcycle.

After searching off and on for a few months, I found one 1,500 miles away, in Washington, the same town as my brother. How nice is that? Not very convenient for me since it’s so far away, but at least I have a place to keep it until I can get out there and ride it home. And the price had just been reduced to $6,999. I don’t think their selling many bikes right now due to the weather, and the new models are arriving.

So I bought it over the phone! I had enough air miles saved up for a round trip ticket, so I flew out to take care of the paperwork last weekend.

My new, used 2007 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic.

Now I just need to find time to go back and get it. Winter is settling in and with the possibility of ice on the roads in the northwest USA, it may not be the best time of year to ride it back to Arizona.

So I’ll try and be patient and wait!

We made a stop here at The Tiger Historical Center.  It’s Located 85 miles NE of Spokane, WA at the intersection of Hwy20 and SR31.  It was built in 1913.  From 1986-1996 it was a museum.  It is all that remains of the town of Tiger.  The town and area once boasted a population of 2,000.  I found some information from this link on the web.  Lots of nick nacks and goodies to be found here as well as a freezer in the back of the store that was full of Ice Cream Bars.  So that’s what we went for!

They had quite selection here on the menu!  I wasn’t feeling very adventurous, so I just got the Angus Burger.  I was told the Alligator Burger was White Meat.

Deception Pass Bridge along State Route 20.  Construction started in 1934 and ended in 1935.  It sure has been here a long time.  Located in North Whidbey, Oak Harbor, WA 98227.  The bridge is 1487 feet long and only 24 feet wide.  Just enough for two vehicles to pass.

A view from the bridge.  It’s a 180 feet to the bottom.

Another view from the bridge. It was quite a nice view.
