Big Boy 4014

Posted in Motorcycles on October 16, 2019 by DRF

I rode over to watch “Big Boy #4014” pass by. This was taken a few miles west of Maracopa, AZ.

I didn’t know the correct way to take a picture while in movie mode on my phone. So some grid lines showed up when I did screen shots.

A couple shots of my bike while waiting. It was over 2 hours late. I’m glad I waited.

And a few other trains as they passed by today. Might as well get a picture!

Here’s a Quote found online about Big Boy 4014.

“Locomotive No. 4014 is the only operating Big Boy. It was delivered to Union Pacific in 1941 and was retired in 1961 after traveling more than 1 million miles, according to the railroad’s website.

It underwent a multimillion-dollar restoration in 2013 and was returned to service to celebrate the company’s 150-year anniversary.”

Last weekend was a blast attending the Easy Rider Live event and the Indian Larry Block Party. This weekend was Jillian’s birthday weekend and was packed with more fun as well. I will start with Sunday’s event since it’s most directly related to riding.

Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride NYC

This year I decided to partake in the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride.

“The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride” is a global motorcycle fund-raising event, raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health programs on behalf of Charity Partner, the Movember Foundation.

Folks who participate get dressed up, ride a classic-style bike and fundraise for the cause.

Friends, family, colleagues and even a guy I met on a cross country road trip chipped in to help. Thanks again to all of you who lent a hand with your donations. I appreciate you!

After a fun but exhausting Friday and Saturday, (which…

Mustang Car Show

Posted in Motorcycles on October 6, 2019 by DRF

A 300 mile motorcycle ride yesterday took me through Prescott, AZ where I stopped to see all these mustang cars on display.

A beautiful day to ride in Arizona. It’s still in the 90’s and getting cooler each week.

Here’s a few close ups. Both old and new cars were on display.

With this nice riding weather, I’m planning on riding somewhere out to town each weekend. Who knows where I’ll find myself next time?

New Trailer for Motorcycles and Quads

Posted in Motorcycles on September 6, 2019 by DRF

Sometimes I can’t decide if I want to take a motorcycle ride or take the quad out for a new adventure. So, I decided to purchase a cargo trailer to haul the motorcycle and quad at the same time (at least once in a while). Gotta have options! So here’s a few pictures of what I did to the trailer and it’s first trip to Washington last month to my brothers cabin property. I took all the “man cave” signs out of my garage to decorate the trailer walls. Why? Just because.
